Prawn Special
Ingredients
- Cleaned fresh prawn 300 g
- Coconut oil 3 tbs
- Small onion finely chopped 150 g
- Tomato 100 g
- Tamarind juice* (Instructions given below) 1/4 cup
- Ginger garlic finely chopped/crushed 1 and 1/2 tbs
- Green chilli 3 nos
- Fresh curry leaves 20 leaves
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder 1 and1/2 tbs
- Coriander powder 2 tbs
- Pepper powder 1 tsp
- Garam masala 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek 1/2 tsp
* To make tamarind juice, take a little tamarind and soak it in water and set aside. After 5 minutes, squeeze out the juice from it.
Preparation
Heat oil in a saucepan and pop mustard and fenugreek. Add small onions and saute until light brown, add ginger garlic and saute till the raw smell goes away. Add tomato, green chilli and curry leaves and salt. Saute until the mixture turns into a paste. Add ingredients 7.-12. Stir continuously until the oil separates. Then add two cups of water and tamarind juice. Bring to a boil. Add the prawns and it will be ready in 10 minutes. Just before turning off the flame, add Garam masala. Do not overcook the prawns.
Serve with chapatti, plain or ghee rice.
