Hibiscus Tea (ചെമ്പരത്തി ചായ)

Today I am introducing a heathy tea made with hibiscus, a flower commonly found in Kerala.

It is very easy to make, with just two hibiscus flowers in under ten minutes.

This tea has several health benefits. It lowers high blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol. This beautiful flower improves our immunity power and it possesses powerful anti-cancer properties. Hibiscus could also help to protect against bacterial infections. Try this tea 3 to 4 days in a week.

If you are living in a foreign country, try to buy a hibiscus plant from a nursery and plant it in your balcony (in a big clay pot). These bright flowering plants impart mental pleasure as well.

You can use sugar or honey to sweeten the tea, according to your taste. Try this today and please provide your feedback. Thank you!

Ingredients

Hibiscus flower petals, 2 nos.
Hot water, 1 cup
Lemon juice, ¾ tbs
Honey or sugar, to taste

Preparation

  • Boil water in a kettle or tea pot.
  • Pour the hot water into a tea cup.
  • Add the petals to the water and keep closed for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Uncover and add lemon juice and honey. Stir well.
Enjoy the drink. Please share and comment.
Thank you!
