French Toast

 French toast is a pan toasted bread soaked in egg and milk. A carefully prepared toast can be rich and delicious.

It is recommended to use thick bread that is a day or two old.

It is vital to ensure that the ingredients are not used directly off the fridge but at room temperature. A quick hack is to microwave the milk and cooking cream for 15 seconds to warm it.

If you don’t like wholemeal brown bread, you may use white bread. High bran content in the wholemeal bread makes it crispier.

Cooking time is under 30 minutes.






Ingredients

Brown bread, 6 slices
Egg (room temperature), 3 nos.
Brown Sugar, 1 ½ tbs.
Vanilla essence, ¼ tsp
Ground Cinnamon, ¼ tsp
Salt, a pinch
Milk (room temperature), 1/3 cup 
Cooking cream (room temperature), 1 ½ tbs 
Butter, 3 tbs

 Preparation

  • Whisk together egg, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  • Add milk and cooking cream. Whisk again.
  • Heat a nonstick iron skillet or thick-bottomed nonstick pan and grease with 1 tbs butter.
  • Dip each side of the bread for two to three seconds and place it on the pan. You can cook up to two slices at a time.
  • Cook for 2 minutes on each side over medium flame, or until golden brown.
  • Repeat for the remaining slices.
  • Serve hot with butter and maple syrup/caramelized fruits, according to your taste.
