Curd Rice (Thairu Saadam)
Ingredients:
Rice 3/4 cup
Water for cooking rice
Curd 1 cup
Coconut oil 1 tbs
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Chana dal 1 tbs
Green chilly 1 no, finely chopped
Ginger 1 inch piece crushed
Hingpowder 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves 2-8 pieces
Salt, as required
Preparation:
Boil the required quantity of water in a saucepan and add rice. Once the rice is overcooked, drain the water through a sieve for 10 minutes. After it cools, mix in the curd and salt.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once it pops, add Chana dal and fry it until it turns light brown. Add ginger, green chilly and curry leaves; and saute for 20 seconds. Finally add hings, saute and switch off. Mix this with the rice.
Ready to eat with pickle and pappad. Thank you :)
